Why Defame Armed Forces?

Refer to the blog published in Canary Trap Published on 27/7/ 2012, I would like to point out certain things about the writing.

First of all Mr Shailesh Ranade is a guest blogger in the Canary trap, which claimes to offer exclusive, investigative and well-researched special news content relating to politics, corruption, security & strategic affairs, intelligence, and terrorism.

The author  has always projected extreme views about armed forces in his writings which amounts to sensationalizing the facts. Unfortunately sensationalism sells and he has been getting lots of hits and cheap publicity. And what does the Armed forces get by such articles? Scorn, contempt and disdain from the civilian population as well as from some disgruntled officers.
We all are aware of the financial conditions of the faujis, may it be an OR or an Officer, what gives strength to them in financial, physical, psychological  hardships is the fact that he is respected more than his civilian counterparts or his close friends for being an 'Army Man'. During my interaction with the jawans after my talks / lectures in forward areas, they always mentioned to me 'Madam, aur kuchh ho na ho, kam se kum fauji ko izzat to dete hain. Hum log jab parivar ko chhod kar itne mushkil jagah par service karte hai to humein, humare parivar ko, hamare bachon ko samaj izzatki nazar se dekhta hai. Yehi hamare liye bahut hai.'

Same goes for the officers, who may not be having too much money in his pocket but, he knows how to be happy within his means. He knows how to maintain a good living standard, host parties for friends colleagues and seniors as part of bonhomie, within those peanuts unfortunately called salary,  given by the political leadership and decided by pompous bureaucrats in return to the supreme sacrifices of Armed forces personnel.

Such articles damage the very "Izzat" of the Army Men in the eyes of the civilians. if the author thinks that he is doing a great service to the society or to the nation by such fabricated stories, he is sadly mistaken. Army is a huge organization, which is amalgam of all sorts of people from all strata of our society. Any organization is mirror image of the societal structure. There are always good and bad elements but, one thing is for sure that even if someone is corrupt, he is not spared and is brought to book within short span of time, unlike civilian and political counterpart where the guilty is not caught and if he is caught, will be out in no time.as cases will linger on for decades and he will be having a good time with the money he has plundered. Even if he is punished, the money he has looted by corruption is never returned. He and his offspring will delve in that money. So he should train his guns on such cases and leave the wonderful organisation like Army to manage its affairs.

Boys Locker Room - A Sneak peak into Mindset of Present - day Youth - Part 2

Adults - How to be better human beings? The psyche behind ‘boys Locker Room’ is not limited to social media or a specific age group. It is a deep-rooted systemic issue found pervasively in all strata of society. There are very few safe spaces where women are respected and treated fairly. Be it home or work space, they are constantly at risk of exploitation, abuse and victimization. Every incident puts more and more embargo on women while leaving the perpetrators to walk away freely. Parents do try to give the best of upbringing and values to their progeny. But, as mentioned earlier, kids learn from their surroundings, and pick up subtle behaviour from immediate family members. When ‘gender role consistent’ behaviours have been part of upbringing, the thought process and reactions are stereotypical, and breaking away from it is not easy. While talking about adults, we’ve to learn to mention every context in gender neutrality. Aim of this narrative is not to ridic...

Is this Kashmiriat?

Is this Kashmiriat? The recent controversy about banning the all girls music band has brought us into center of the another discussion about secularism and “Kashmiriat” once again. Kashmir has a unique and distinct cultural heritage which is multifaceted, multicolored and vibrant like its demography. For centuries Kashmir has had a history of invasions by outside forces to subjugate people by perpetual use of force and apart from persecution and plunder, the worst hit could have been the culture of this paradise on earth. But, the valley has embraced one and all with large heart and open arms ad o pting their art, customs an...
